lots to do

where does the time go? we've been doing the concert thing lately--saw mama mia on friday night (loved it!) and then saw u2 a couple of nights ago in oakland. had a screamer behind us who alternated between screaming and singing/screaming the entire time, which kinds ruined it. guess i'm too old for those huge concerts anymore. but it was a once-in-a-lifetime type thing, so we had to do it. looking forward to a more mellow night in sf at the warfield to see death cab soon. my fav venue to see my second-fav band (just found ringside, my latest obsession). can't believe thanksgiving is in two weeks. this will be my first time cooking everything from scratch, and needless to say i'm nervous. it's just my dad and mike, who are pretty easy to please. m-in-l is already starting her pitty party for the holidays, and mike and i are already sick of it. she's pouting because rob and pam are headed to ny and doug and ellyn are headed to her mom's, and david and maria are staying in arizona, which leaves her stuck with boring old us. and now she's saying that my noon thanksgiving feast, to which she's invited of course, "cuts her day short" so she doesn't want to come. it's the time my dad wanted to eat, so i'm not changing it to accommodate her spoiled ass. and this is, of course, the time of year when i ask for more dough from my steady clients, which is always a little nerve-racking. and then there's the choosing of client gifts, which i wish could be more creative, but really what do you buy for people you hardly know except food gift baskets? one of my clients is totally into tango dancing, and i wish i could find something cool for her that's related to that, but i'm not having much luck. and my so cal guy has employees that i work with, too, so rather than buy individual gifts for all of them, i find food to be much easier. and i'm not into buying gift certificates, because although i do spend the bread on them, i don't want them to know exactly how much i shell out. ah, the price we pay--literally!
