i'm already so excited for our quick trip to san diego next month to see sally and celebrate her end of treatment. and to see cynthia and john and my boys johnnie and jake. cynthia is one of those women i wish my friends (storygoil and amy esp) could meet because she's so cool and hip and liberal and outspoken. she didn't even start having kids until she was over 40, and she had her first before she married john. in fact, i met her right before she was pregnant with johnnie and that was over 9 years ago. time flies. anyway, she and john used to live in a huge house in midtown and they had me house-sit when they went on vaca, and she had a huge wall-size poster of pulp fiction on one wall, and day of the dead stuff everywhere, and cute colors and fabrics on the furniture, and madonna and depeche mode cds, and i remember thinking she was pretty hip for her age. and now she's 50-something and still looks exactly the same as when i met her and still dresses cute and funky. and still talks the same and cracks me up. she calls me julie-et because people used to think my last name was et. we used to crack up so much at work, and she was a big-wig even then but still used to have fun. one of the best bosses i've ever had, that's for sure. this afternoon our house is going to be inspected for bugs--more specifically, termites. although we know we have them, we're going ot find out how extensive the infestation is. we're expecting the worst...
