crapitty crap

this economy is a killer. i'm scrounging for work, and i can tell my clients are feeling it too, because the checks are coming later and later, and the work is less and far between.

at least i still have some work--please, i beg of anyone who stumbles across this little blog, go to these sites, click around (on ads, links, sponsors, etc.) and post a comment or two. it will help keep me and my two cats and dog (and husband) from starving!

like it was yesterday

it seems appropriate that as my husband's 20-year high school reunion is this summer, and mine will be next year, i finally got around to reading prep. i haven't been much of a fiction readers for a few years now, but i am so glad i decided to plow through some fiction, and more importantly, that i started with prep.

last night, and i got in bed and prepared to savor more of the novel, and exclaimed for the umpteenth time, "i LOVE this book!" mike asked, "do you think i would like it?" i thought for a minute. "i'm not sure...but if you want to know what i was like in high school, you should read it."

seriously, there were times that i felt such a kinship with the main character that, when she was embarrassed, i had to cringe. it's as if the author, curtis sittenfeld, crawled inside my head and plucked my (teen) thoughts out.

prep is raw with honesty, and i often found myself laughing and crying as it made me reflect on my own experiences, and finally put my old insecurities to rest.
